I don’t think I’ve read a good YA book in a while. This was exactly what I needed to get me back in the reading groove during everything that’s happening in the world. Elizabeth is a brilliant writer & this story was very similar to some of my own personal experiences as well as my friends. Here are some of my favorite quotes from the book:
•I think you should write about the one that scares you most. Taking risks and making choices in spite of fear—it’s what makes our life story compelling.
•I’m Black on both sides. Although my Puerto Rican side speaks Spanish, and my American side speaks English.
•Trust. Yourself, mainly, but the world, too. There is magic working in your favor.
