Realm Breaker
by Victoria Aveyard
Do I own a copy of this book? yes.
Did I choose to borrow the audiobook from the library? yes.
This book has been staring me down since it arrived at my house, for 576 pages it shouldn't have been nearly as daunting as it was.
Aveyard throws you head first into this story and you have exactly 3 stops on this train, all in the first quarter of the book. So plan accordingly!
Also realize that this series WILL BE best read back to back. Especially for my fellow fan fiction gremlins. Because the ending does feels like the end of a chapter, not the end of a book and the next chapter is roughly a year away. So again, PLAN ACCORDINGLY!
I enjoyed this book so much, the banter and smart remarks had me grinning from beginning to end. I feel like the perfect way to phrase it is when Found Family has the same murderous intent that exists in blood family.
For me what made this book for me was the characters and their interactions with one another.
As someone who lives for Worldbuilding, this book didn't hit it for me. I felt like there was a fairly large amount of exposition, and in the end I don't expect to retain any knowledge about this world, especially since taking just a day away from this book was enough for me to have to refer back to the map in my physical edition.
I am looking forward to the follow up book, and obviously binging all three when I can.
