A Bit Dark, and A Lot of Sweet!

From the second Menace swaggered onto the page, I knew I needed to get deep into that deliciously twisted mind of his because he had Tasha shook in Capri 3.5. Jahquel doesn’t just write morally grey characters—she paints them in every shade of messy, flawed, and so damn human you can't help but root for them. Menace Casseli? Whew.
I love him and understand him a lot more after this book. This man was robbed of boyhood and dumped headfirst into the brutal world of manhood with no lifejacket or someone to lean on. And it shows—in the best, most bone-chilling way. He’s all edges, precision, and control—only moves when the blueprint’s been double-checked.

Stevie? She's absolutely wonderful with her quirky personality but she's also lost since her favorite person gained angel wings. She's definitely the last person who should have anything to do with Menace. She’s too soft, too sunshine, too not-him. But baby, try telling him that after he seen her for the first time!

From start to finish, Stevie and Menace had me howling, swooning, and fanning myself like I was watching a forbidden slow-burn on steroids. Their chemistry? Chef’s kiss. Their banter? HILARIOUS. Their love? Grown and gorgeously unforced. The way they gave each other space to just be—ugh, my heart.

Now, don’t go in expecting a full-blown dark romance with chains and dungeons just because there’s a lil’ "kidnapping" plotline. No ma’am. This ain’t that. This is a soft, swoony, soul-warming romance starring a brooding ninja with a heart he didn’t even know he had.

Read it. Love it. Then thank Menace for the emotional whiplash. You'll love Mavie and Wonder!
