Overview
The Alchemy of Me 2025 reading challenge is a prompt based challenge that consists of 5 categories with each 5 prompts that follow a particular theme. That also means you could in theory use this as your 25-in-'25 prompt list, although reading 25 books for this challenge isn't required. In theory you could count some books for multiple prompts, or give yourself bonus points for how many times you've met the goals of a certain prompt. At the end there is 1 bonus prompt for those who find it interesting.
Eadem mutata resurgo.
Although changed, I arise the same.
- Jakob Bernoulli (1654-1705)
These prompts are chosen around things that will help you tackle the past, present and future you, and push you to grown beyond what you are now. That sounds very ambitious for a book challenge, and it may not be quite so dramatic, but that's the starting off point I used to come up with these prompts!
The 5 categories are...
- Numbers Game: Things that might challenge you by tackling some number based prompts.
- Discomfort Zone: Things that are outside of your comfort zone, be it personal or habit related.
- Soul Searching: Things based around identity and assumptions.
- Personal Alchemy: Things that might improve your life or increase fulfillment.
- Beyond Me: Things that you wouldn't be likely to read or come across.
It's up to you to set any parameters to work within, such as for example:
- prioritizing your TBR list;
- reading from your local library;
- if you wish to make a prompt more or less challenging;
- or whether you can count the same book for multiple prompts or not.
