Read one book, by a British author, that was originally published during the reign of each British King and Queen since the Union of the Crowns in 1603.
If you have a book published in the year when one monarch died and the next acceded and you can't find an exact date for it, feel free to just put it into either prompt. Nobody is going to check.
(I chose the 1603 cut-off date for a few reasons: 1. I don't want to have to track multiple lines of monarchs before this point. 2. This also roughly corresponds with the transition into Modern English and what can reasonably be read by today's English speaker without translation or extensive notes. 3. The further back in time we go, the fewer books there are to choose from, which makes things less interesting. 4. Further back in time, some reigns become disputed, extremely short, or both. I certainly don't want to try to figure out a book from Lady Jane Grey's reign, for instance.)
