Overview
Dean Koontz is a well-known author of many novels, novellas, and short stories. He has published more than 100 novels during his career and has written under multiple pseudonyms. (Names under pseudonyms are not included in this challenge.)
Many of these earliest works have since gone out of print, but a select few have been reissued under his real name. One, Chase as K.R. Dwyer, was rewritten by Koontz and published in the Strange Highways collection.
Collectively, his books have sold more than 500 million copies worldwide and translated into 38 languages. Koontz has more than a dozen novels that have reached the top of the New York Times bestsellers list. He is one of the most prolific authors today.
He lives in Orange County, California, where he enjoys renovating and staying close to home. Koontz has an intense writing schedule, which is necessary for an author who publishes two books a year.
He writes ten hours a day, six days a week. However, there are two instances when Koontz wrote for 36 hours straight when writing.
Koontz grew up in Pennsylvania in a home without books, but becoming an author was his life-long dream.
