Overview

A little spin on the "read the rainbow" challenge. My challenge is to read ten books in six months with titles (not covers!) that contain colours - with room for artistic interpretation.  Feel free to join!

There are three ways to match a title to a prompt:
  1. Rainbow: The title contains the most straightforward colour name. Examples: Red Rising, The Priory of the Orange Tree, Anne of Green Gables;
  2. Fusion: The title contains a more specific (or obscure) colour name. Examples: A Study in Scarlet, The House in the Cerulean Sea, I Shall Wear Midnight
  3. Aesthetic: The title contains a word that is associated (by you or in general) with a certain colour. Examples: Blood over Bright Haven (red), The Goldfinch (yellow), A Mouthful of Dust (grey)

There are two bonus prompts for a little extra room to read. You can match these at your own discretion, as long as there is some relation to visual qualities. Consider:
  • Titles containing words like colour, rainbow, hue, etc. Examples: The Colour of Magic, Rainbow Six, A Darker Shade of Magic
  • Titles containing other visual descriptors. Examples: Sparkling Cyanide, The Pale Horse, Shadows of Self
  • Titles containing colours for which you have more than one book you wish to read.

Apart from these, there are only two other rules:
  1. All main prompt books must be written by unique authors, so no double dipping books or authors! For the bonus prompts, this rule doesn't apply.
  2. We're not judging books by their covers here - the colours used on the covers do not count towards fulfilling the prompts. The same goes for the names of authors - sorry John Green and Holly Black! Titles only!

I've added some examples to each colour, go forth and add your own, have fun and happy reading!
