Overview
Hi everyone!
I wanted to create this challenge, because I absolutely love Carissa Broadbent's books and her writing style. I have put the order of books into their respective series' instead of mixing the books together (feel free to read in whichever order you are comfortable with starting). Side-note, I have included the official description of what each book is about to accompany the respective book. I decided to add that into the notes, in case some participants of this challenge aren't sure what each book is about.Â

For The Crowns of Nyaxia series, the reading order I put together is how Carissa Broadbent encouraged her readers to read the series.
Which follows:Â
- The Serpent and the Wings of Night: The Nightborn Duet (Core Book 1)
- Six Scorched Roses (novella, standalone. Book 1.5)
- The Ashes and the Star-Cursed King: The Nightborn Duet (Core Book 2)
- Slaying the Vampire Conqueror (full-length book, standalone. Book 2.5)
- The Songbird and the Heart of Stone: The Shadowborn Duet ( Core Book 3)
- The Fallen and the Kiss of Dusk: The Shadowborn Duet (Core Book 4. Releasing August 5th, 2025)
Of course, you don't have to follow the reading order this way! You don't need to read the two standalone books in order to enjoy the series, and you can just stick with the four core books: The Serpent and the Wings of Night, The Ashes and the Star-Cursed King, The Songbird and the Heart of Stone, and The Fallen and the Kiss of Dusk (releasing August 5th of this year).
However, if you want to have the full experience with every facet of the story, I recommend reading in the order that she encourages. The novella, Six Scorched Roses, is about Vale and Lilith, while Slaying the Vampire Conqueror is about Atrius and Syline. I personally found enjoyment from all of the books, and reading it in the order that she encouraged definitely adds to your experience overall in The Crowns of Nyaxia series.
As a FYI, The Songbird and the Heart of Stone is centered around a different couple: Asar and Mische. I have noticed that some people didn't realize that each book is a duet oriented around a different couple. The Songbird and the Heart of Stone and The Fallen and the Kiss of Dusk is centered around Asar and Mische; whereas, The Serpent and the Wings of Night and The Ashes and the Star-Kissed King is centered around Raihn and Oraya. I thought I should note this in case anyone that participates in the challenge did not know this.
There will be two more books in The Crowns of Nyaxia series that she will be releasing in the next few years, and I'll make another challenge after she finishes all of the books in The Crowns of Nyaxia series. 😊
As for The War of Lost Hearts series, I haven't actually read those books yet. They're on my TBR. But from what I can tell, there's only three books in the series that are pretty straightforward without any other standalone books or novellas.Â
If you find this reading challenge and decide to partake, I really hope you enjoy the books! Happy reading!

1
The Serpent and the Wings of Night
Carissa Broadbent
For humans and vampires, the rules of survival are the same: never trust, never yield, and always – always – guard your heart.
The adopted human daughter of the Nightborn vampire king, Oraya carved her place in a world designed to kill her. Her only chance to become something more than prey is entering the Kejari: a legendary tournament held by the goddess of death herself.
But winning won’t be easy amongst the most vicious warriors from all three vampire houses. To survive, Oraya is forced to make an alliance with a mysterious rival.
Everything about Raihn is dangerous. He is a ruthless vampire, an efficient killer, an enemy to her father’s crown… and her greatest competition. Yet, what terrifies Oraya most of all is that she finds herself oddly drawn to him.
But there’s no room for compassion in the Kejari. War brews, shattering everything that Oraya thought she knew about her home. And Raihn may understand her more than anyone – but their blossoming attraction could be her downfall, in a kingdom where nothing is more deadly than love.

Six Scorched Roses
Carissa Broadbent
Six roses. Six vials of blood. Six visits to a vampire who could be her salvation… or her damnation.
Lilith has been dying since the day she was born. But while she long ago came to terms with her own imminent death, the deaths of everyone she loves is an entirely different matter. As her town slowly withers in the clutches of a mysterious god-cursed illness, she takes matters into her own hands.
Desperate to find a cure, Lilith strikes a bargain with the only thing the gods hate even more than her village: a vampire, Vale. She offers him six roses in exchange for six vials of vampire blood—the one hope for her town’s salvation.
But when what begins as a simple transaction gradually becomes something more, Lilith is faced with a terrifying realization: It’s dangerous to wander into the clutches of a vampire…and in a place already suffering a god’s wrath, more dangerous still to fall in love with one.

When Raihn offers Oraya a secret alliance, taking the deal is her only chance at reclaiming her kingdom–and gaining her vengeance against the lover who betrayed her. But to do so, she’ll need to harness a devastating ancient power, intertwined with her father’s greatest secrets.
