Overview
Do you find yourself reading mainly American or British authors? Do you shy away from translated works of literature? How many of these books from international authors have you read?

(Now, I personally think this list could be better, and I have made some changes and suggestions (bonus books). For example, there are several books by the same author, which to me feels excessive. I'd rather represent a country with different authors. Some countries, like Russia, France, Germany, Italy, and Japan, are also overrepresented, while others are underrepresented. There are 195 countries in the world, meaning there shouldn't be more than 6 books from each country. Considering that some smaller countries have a smaller footprint in the World Literature, I can look pass that, but there are 5 continents (I count North and South America as one continent, as there are so few countries there. Even together there are fewer countries in Americas than other continents. There shouldn't be more or less than 200 books from each continent.)

Heat and Dust
Ruth Prawer Jhabvala
I assume this is meant to be Indian, but Ruth Prawer Jhabvala was British-American. She was born in Germany and married an Indian man. I would recommend Karnali Blues or Palpasa Café instead of this. They are by Nepalese authors.

Island of a Thousand Mirrors
Nayomi Munaweera
Sri Lankan

Anil's Ghost
Michael Ondaatje
Michael Ondaatje is a Sri Lankan-born Canadian writer of a rather mixed ethnicity. His father was of Dutch and Portuguese Burgher heritage, and his mother was of Burgher and Tamil heritage. I assume his books can be seen as Sri Lankan, though one could read Chinaman by Shehan Karunatilaka or Road From Elephant Pass by Nihal de Silva
