Overview
Do you find yourself reading mainly American or British authors? Do you shy away from translated works of literature? How many of these books from international authors have you read?

(Now, I personally think this list could be better, and I have made some changes and suggestions (bonus books). For example, there are several books by the same author, which to me feels excessive. I'd rather represent a country with different authors. Some countries, like Russia, France, Germany, Italy, and Japan, are also overrepresented, while others are underrepresented. There are 195 countries in the world, meaning there shouldn't be more than 6 books from each country. Considering that some smaller countries have a smaller footprint in the World Literature, I can look pass that, but there are 5 continents (I count North and South America as one continent, as there are so few countries there. Even together there are fewer countries in Americas than other continents. There shouldn't be more or less than 200 books from each continent.)

Again, another book by the same author on this list... I am sure there are more German books worth reading than Heinrich Böll's books. So - maybe Monsters Like Us by Ulrike Almut Sandig

Frankly, I don't see any other reason for this book to be on this list but that Gidget is a part of US culture. Which means it doesn't quite fit this list. You could as well read Bambi, a Life in the Woods by Felix Salten or Malina by Ingeborg Bachmann
