How can a book feel soft and gentle, while also being so weighted down with grief, while also being buoyed a lightness of love and acceptance? That's Too Bright to See, a lovely short middle grade book about a child grieving a beloved uncle and trying to understand what his ghost is trying to communicate.

Added to my elementary library collection, and recommended for upper elementary to middle school readers.

This felt wonderfully age appropriate for the story it wanted to tell.

I'm not going to tag this as horror, but know: it does have ghosts! And ghostly happenings! And the MC's recently deceased Uncle has a message their spirit is desperately trying to convey. What is it???

This book was amazing and definitely had me tear up (in happiness) a few times!

This is it. This is the book that made me realize no experience is unique, and that is such a wonderful thing. There were so many lines that truly felt like they had somehow been taken directly from my 11-year-old brain, and I hadn't realized until reading this just how many of those thoughts were relevant to my gender identity today. This book was a gift.
