A truly heartwarming, sad, and wonderful coming of age story. Although I am not a part of the LGBTQ+ community, I saw myself relating to Bug’s character over and over again. The author did such an incredible job at capturing every single emotion present at so many different times. I can’t think of one bad thing to say about this book. It was amazing. So informative and easy to read. I’m so glad that kids have books like this one to read.

This book means so much to me. I picked it up at the library on a whim, and then I read it in a single sitting. It made me cry multiple times. The character reminded me a lot of myself as a child, and the fact that kids today can see trans characters in books means so much to me.

Solid read. Not the creepy ghost story I had hoped for but still good. Weirdly, was a bit slow, like it took me a whole to get through, but still good. I also, could've done with ending before revealing Bug's chosen name, but the acceptance from friends and the new principal was cool.

I am participating in the Trans Rights Readathon (March, 2023) and wanted to read a variety of genres that focus on Trans and Non-Binary characters and authors. Part of that is select a few middle grade books. I was didn’t know much about this book going into it but I’m so happy to have read this and to know that children are growing up with amazing representation in books like this. Bug is stuck in that strange period of time when you are still a kid but becoming a teen is right around the corner. I found it super realistic that Bug doesn’t fully grasp their feelings until the end of the book. Some kids just need more time making those steps and fully feeling confident and comfortable with who they are. This book was incredible and I can’t wait to tell more people to read it.
