Sequel to Heated Rivalry. Ilya is officially one of my favorite book boyfriends. WOW! Hockey romance, rivals in love, found family.

I really enjoyed this one! I was sooo happy to get to come back to Shane and Ilya again. They first appeared and were the main characters in Heated Rivalry, which is the story of how they first came about and ended up in a committed relationship so I would recommend reading that book prior to this one. It does give you more insight into both their personalities and what they have been through to get to where they are and some of why they have chosen to keep their relationship a secret. I loved getting to catch back up with them see how they are doing and get the next chapter of their life. We get to see Shane and Ilya and how they are managing to have their relationship, keep it a secret and their careers along with the camp they run during the summer. Things are changing for them a little bit and they are both feeling things a little differently than they were originally and the questions about wanting to be open about both their sexuality and their relationship are popping up. They are stealing time and hate having to be separated from each other and getting so little time during the season, especially because they are keeping it hidden. Ilya is also dealing with some other things and figuring out how to work through that. He has a great team and building a great family with them, which I loved to see, but he is also dealing with the lows and the questions about depression and where he falls with that due to his mother and her suicide when he was a kid. This story was well done and I loved the emotional aspect of it, especially with already knowing the characters and being fully engaged with them. This just continued to deepen that. I loved getting to see them work through everything and throughout all of it being in the fully committed relationship and them working toward forever together.
The narrator did a great job with the story and the characters and adding that extra dynamic to bring them to life.

I preferred the first book about Ilya and Shane to this one. Just wanted to shake these two idiots and scream “TALK!”

I love all the books in this series, but there is something so special about Shane and Ilya. I got 2% in and had already squee'd, teared up, laughed and swooned. It's such a great setup, too: Shane and Ilya have now been together for years, and Ilya has had enough of their relationship being closeted: He misses being physically affectionate whenever he wants to be. But Shane is afraid of the professional ramifications of coming out, not to mention that he kind of finds it a turn-on to be all cloak and dagger about it. The stakes are high whatever they decide: They risk being booted out of a job they love, and they also risk Ilya being sent back to Russia if he is no longer employed in Canada.

I would be remiss if I didn't mention their blazingly hot sex scenes, but I love their relationship dynamic just as much: they're fiercely competitive and playfully combative, but they're also so open with each other and, of course, horny as hell.

I could nitpick about the fact that I'm not sure Ilya's mental health issues were included/resolved smoothly enough, but who am I kidding. It's still a brilliant book that I will 100% read again.

Really glad we got another Shane and Ilya book. We got a satisfying continuation of their story and lots of lovely little moments amidst their struggles. Ilya hanging out with Shane's parents was incredibly sweet. The author also did a fantastic job portraying Ilya's depression, showing how he struggled with asking for help and telling his loved ones. I also loved that
he didn't magically get better as his life circumstances improved.
