This book was the perfect read. Calm, reflective, but funny.

A breezy book of semi-comedic personal essays with occasional moments of true depth and introspection. Zach Zimmerman has a clear voice in his standup and has translated that well to the page. Some of the pieces work better than others, but all are quick and flow well.
A good beach read or fast summer pick.

This essay collection was a bit of a letdown for me after hearing good things about it. Zach Zimmerman brings up some interesting nuggets about his upbringing in a Southern religious household and his venturing out into the queer community, but I found many of the chapters to be only skimming the surface, when I felt there might have been more to mine. I will say the chapter most interesting was one where he reflects on a former classmate/friend who was a victim of a school shooting. It stands out as the most reflective of chapters, and also seems so out of place from the rest of the book. I just wish he could have carried over some of that reflection to some of his other history.
