Scavenge the Stars

Tara Sim

More like, 4,5 stars! I was not expecting to love this as much as I did.

Revenge can swallow one up whole and make them blind to the truth, even if it's right in front of them, this spin on the Count of Monte Cristo truly reminds the reader of that. I guess I love a great revenge story, though Scavenge the Stars is also much more than just that.

I adore this book! The world building was a bit slow in the beginning but in hindsight it was perfect. The way the story slowly builds up its arc, left me breathless in the end. Not knowing who I could trust and what to expect.
Every time I thought, „oh no, here we go with the cliches” there’s a twist and non cliches in sight.  And I absolutely love that!
The details are so well thought out and some hints are put in the beginning and later you’re like “so THAT was it about”.
The characters are flawed and do messy things, but thy always have a reason however morally grey it may be.
Amaya is a bad bitch who carries knifes around like they’re an accessoire. She has a healthy list for revenge and is a bit too blood thirsty, but her moral code usually comes knocking on the door.
Cayo is a rich boy who loves fashion, men and women, doesn’t mind to show affection towards his friends and has to struggle with a gambling addiction.
They both long to be free and independent.
And I can’t wait to see where the story goes in the second book!

No, no, no, no, no. Just no. If you think you're getting anything close to a retelling, do not waste the hours of reading.

I can’t wait for the next book on this series! I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. All of the characters were written beautifully and have such complex backgrounds! I highly recommend this book for people who love a good revenge story!
