Probably 4.5 stars. I just don't know what I'm supposed to think/feel right now. The ending felt so abrupt. I want more, but also that was so weird? This is the most incoherent review I've ever written.

What the fuck did I just read? This book is profound and profane, unnerving, claustrophobic, dour, hopeful, mysterious, and guards its secrets jealously. Horror is such a unique thing to every person, and the genuine sense of unease reading this bestowed upon me left me unable to read this at night, especially living in such a creaky house. Reviewing and putting thoughts down about this book seems impossible. It is more an experience than a novel, a kind of literary Rorschach into the reader's own perception, and makes you question so much while answering so little, but never in a way that feels coy or disrespectful, but more in the vein of the horror that some things truly do not have any answers. This is a book that I feel one would need to read time and time again to really understand, however after this first experience I feel inclined to give my copy away post haste. 5 stars.

Given how much I like footnotes and creatively constructed book and mixed media and just general playing with conventions, this book was just soooooooo slow and not as much fun as I had thought it would be.

I think this book is brilliant. And I think there could be a college level course about this book. But I did not like the experience reading it.
