i cried a LOT reading this. the writing is like standard memoir writing and was sometimes a little dry, but you could feel sarah’s grief, hope, and joy through her words! i recommend!!!
It was so compelling to hear Ms McBride narrate her story. A quite from the end of the book, “Vulnerability is often the first step on the path toward justice,” seemed to sum up her story. She shares her personal, private experience of her transgender identity with such honesty, compassion and vulnerability. Woven into this personal narrative is her extraordinary position in the movement for transgender equality. I so appreciate this story and will carry it with me for a very long time.

I'm so mad at myself for dnfing this when I first tried to read it. It is so good and Sarah is such a great person, and I really hope she becomes president one day. I also hope she falls in love again someday to a man who treats her right and loves her the way Andy did. She deserves all the good things in the world.
CALLING ALL ALLIES OF TRANS PEOPLE! Do not do anything else until you've bought or borrowed this book. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200. Read. This.
A friend recommended this book and I'm really glad I read it. Sarah is very inspirational, and a thoughtful writer. Her memoir felt like an elegant speech, and I honestly hope she runs for president some day. I'll be voting for Biden in 2020, so I found his foreward interesting, but Ms. McBride would make a better president than him.
I strongly recommend this book by Sarah McBride. She brings her whole self as shares her story of living as a trans woman and activist in America through an era of significant positive change for the trans community that culminated with the election of Donald Trump. It's a nuanced and thoughtful and emotionally compelling memoir, but it is so much more. It is a roadmap for advocacy and a beacon of hope. 10/10. Highly recommend. 5 stars. I am a better person because I read this book.
